Our friends at Twenty Something London run on the ethos of ‘Do Something Different’. This week sees the first list for their Day Time Picks series, showcasing great independent places to go. It's also important to know where to go before you hit up some of London's best nightly hotspots. Today they've got art galleries, coffee stores, intimate breweries, and a lot more.
Maison d’Être
Café, Highbury & Islington
Just down from the Highbury & Islington roundabout lies this little cafe gem. You’ll be swept away by the place’s charm and find yourself in a constant state of relaxation. Modern with a classic edge, it’s got a lot of heart thanks to the attention paid to every detail.
Gasworks
Art Gallery, Vauxhall
An eclectic, contemporary, art gallery you should head to if in need of a free art fix. Open for over 20 years, this veteran space plays host to both collaborative and solo shows. And better yet, their interesting and thought-provoking displays come accompanied with buzzing openings and interesting events.
Algerian Coffee Stores
Coffee Shop, Soho
Passing through the door of the Algerian Coffee Stores on Old Compton Street, Soho, you’ll soon be reaffirming your coffee addiction. Owned by Marisa’s family since the days of her granddad, circa. 1948, the aroma is incredible, the sight immense, shelves stacked with all sorts of coffee, and everything is roasted by the family themselves.
Candid Café
Café-cum-Charity, Angel
Behind an inconspicuous doorway, near Angel tube, and up three flights of stairs you’ll find the quirky Candid Café. With a charm about it like no other it's the perfect spot to relax and unwind with a great book. Run by the Candid Arts Trust, this charity platform supports emerging artists from the heart of Islington's, Angel.
