What they say:

Arjun Waney, the man behind Le Petite Maison, The Arts Club and one half of the duo behind Zuma and Roka, has announced the opening of new Peruvian delight Coya in Mayfair this November. Situated at 118 Piccadilly in luxurious Mayfair, Coya will comprise of a 100-cover restaurant and ceviche bar all available to the public, with a seperate dining area, outdoor terrace and bar only available to members.

Reportedly, Waney and his team spent time in Peru to "ensure the origins of Coya stemmed from a place of absolute authenticity". With this healthy attention to detail it is clear that Coya is going to be a real homage to good Peruvian food and drink that will surely be a success in London, where Peruvian culture has exploded over recent months.

Dishes on the menu will include a range of classic ceviches and tiraditos (similar to sashimi), with anticuchos (grill skewered meat) and parrillada dishes such as pechuga de pato (duck breast with lucuma, soya sauce and coriander shoots). Coya will also feature a pisco bar, offering a drinks menu of pisco-based cocktails along with spirits alongside special tequilas and rums.

What we say:

Every year London gets swamped by a new culinary craze; we've seen sushi, mexican and thai all have their days in the sun, but 2012 is the year of one nation, Peru. With London seeing some great new Peruvian restaurants and pop-ups throughout this year, one thing is clear, London loves Peruvian food and drink.

Opening in November; Coya is London's newest offering from the South American country, from the mind of Arjun Waney. With fresh ceviche and pisco-cocktails top of the order, you really can't see Coya being anything other than a success. With the added exclusivity of being located in Mayfair, Coya has the opportunity to snare some high-profile figures to become the newest fans of Peruvian cuisine, though if you haven't had a pisco cocktail in the capital yet, then you're well behind the times. Here at DesignMyNight we recommend you to jump on the Peruvian bandwagon, because it's one of the best things to happen to the London food and drink scene in a long time. Fresh ceviche dishes and the strong kick of a pisco-cocktail, what more could you possibly want? Stay posted for more information about Coya in the run up to its grand opening in November.
