The View at Skyloft London - Restaurant Bar Review

Boasting a vantage point overlooking the entire city, The View at SkyLoft has been firmly on my hit list since its opening in May 2013. However after visiting, I soon realised this experience destination in Victoria has a lot more to offer than just its jaw-dropping views.

The Venue

After the climb to the 23rd floor of the sleek Millbank Tower, you enter the View at Skyloft with the large windows covering the perimeter being the first thing you notice. Each window overlooks the Thames’ most iconic landmarks, including the Houses of Parliament and the London Eye, so if you’re anything like me; you’ll be ‘wowing’ from the off. Once you get accustomed to the whole of London beneath your feet, you’ll then appreciate just how cool Skyloft actually is. Though elegant and chic, with a touch of exclusivity, this place has a real warehouse feel; with exposed brick and reclaimed wooden floor throughout, skyline stencils on the windows, and a relaxed décor.

The View at Skyloft has some serious wow-factor.

Ambience & Clientele

As you would expect, The View at Skyloft attracts a stylish crowd; it’s perfect for an experience date or birthday treat, and also great for groups of friends looking for a fancy night out. I noticed a real mix of people on my visit; though lots of couples, the spacious aspect to the venue lends itself well to larger groups and is naturally a great place for private hire. With attentive friendly staff, low lighting and relaxing music, the ambience is chilled and non-pretentious.

Food & Drink

Awe inducing views aside, Skyloft is also a blinding restaurant serving up delicious British cuisine with a modern twist. Though pricey, if you’re looking to treat yourself it’s definitely worth splashing out. On the waiter’s recommendation, I went for the mackerel to start, pork belly for main and chocolate fondant to finish. It goes without saying that the food was as aesthetically pleasing as it was tasty. Though fine dining portions, me and my date were contently full after finishing. The drinks list is simple but effective, with a choice range of wines, cocktails and spirits to toast the evening with. We opted for a crisp bottle of white to accompany our meal, but if you’re looking to impress that someone special, there are various Champagnes on the menu that will definitely help seal the metaphorical deal. For non-diners, the bar area on the right hand side of Skyloft is well equipped with a list of classic and modern cocktails, comfy seating, and yes, more breath-taking views of London town.

Not just a restaurant, Skyloft is a great place for some sky high quality drinks too.
