Description

What do you get when you combine 100 different types of tea with a crackin' boozer? AnswerThe Stoke Newington Tea House.

Three floors, three very different experiences. As you enter the quirky pub, you'll notice something about the bar - there isn't one. You'll also be greeted by a wall of tea, sourced from across the globe - white, black, green, yellow, assam, darjeeling, oolong, pure ayurvedic, flowering...the list goes on.

But don't be fooled! This is still very much a pub. The state-of-the-art beer wall, craft beer fridge and eight rotating ales are a testament to that fact, as is the list of tea-infused cocktails (or as the pub calls them - 'cock-teas').

Add to this a killer menu of British grub from brekkie to Sunday roasts and you'll realise, there's nothing ordinary about The Stoke Newington Tea House

Hold on, there's more, so much more. How about a secret hideaway? Escape the hustle and bustle of the Big Smoke and sneak downstairs into the cellar  - known as Bouverie Road Wine and Cheese BarIf you hadn't already guessed it, there's wine, cheese and more wine. There's even a secret side entrance...(no one has to know!).

There, that's it...oh, wait. There's also an upstairs! Home to The London School of Tea, here you can book classes to learn how to make the PERFECT cuppa. It's a British tradition, after all. You can also hire the room out for private dining AND we've just installed a TV (with Sky Sports).

I loved having my birthday drinks @ The Tea House! The team was amazing; in no time rearranged the tables to acomodate more people and were super speedy bringing the food (delicious by the way) we ordered throughout the day. visited The Stoke Newington Tea House on 01 Apr 2017

Lucky to have booked as pub was full on Sunday lunch. Nice to breeze to the front of the queue with our table waiting! Service was very friendly if not a bit slow (had to wait about 20 mins for drinks to come after food was actually delivered). Burger and roast were good value and tasty. Atmosphere was buzzy. Nice local haunt for a Sunday chill out. nick09 visited The Stoke Newington Tea House on 05 Feb 2017

We went to Stoke Newington TeaHouse for a family birthday lunch. We'd eaten there before at Christmas time and liked it so much that it was our venue of choice for the birthday. The things I particularly liked were: It's very family friendly so we felt at home having a small baby with us, but it was still sufficiently 'adult' to make us feel that we could enjoy ourselves in relaxed surroundings. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent. We had sharing starters which were excellent, particularly the baked camembert with chutney. I chose fish and chips for my main course. This was cooked to perfection with the gluten free batter exactly to my choice. I would definitely recommend it. We went for the Thursday BYO steak night, being able to book a table at 8:30pm on the site for this. It was described or I read it as the butchers being open in the evening while table bookings were taken later (& seeing as it was just a Thursday presumed it would be open late like a pop-up type thing). Reading this: ''They will bag it up for you (you pay the shop market price for it), you then walk next-door to us at The Tea House, hand over your steak and we will cook it to your liking and add on all the trimmings (chips, onion rings, sauce and salad) - all for £8.'' However, much to our disappointment the butchers shut at 7pm (no warning of this in any confirmation or on their description and terms and conditions). Had to eat of their menu as we both live in South London and had met there after work just for this. A wasted trip and really disappointing. jenlld visited The Stoke Newington Tea House on 12 Jan 2017

Always great food - big portions & so yummy - it has a great atmosphere and a great selection of teas/wines - also a ton of gluten free options - sticky toffee pudding is incredible! My favourite venue for a group gathering. Looked after our gang of 10 brilliantly & had a very tasty, not-so-dry-January Roast. Sara visited The Stoke Newington Tea House on 08 Jan 2017

The meal was excellent and the cheerful service by the staff could not be faulted. However there was some confusion over your policy on tipping. Does the service charge go to the staff (it should) or is it passed into general revenue? Satisfied customers want to reward the staff for good service and may assume that the charge is for that purpose and not leave am extra tip. That would be unfair to both customers and staff. visited The Stoke Newington Tea House on 25 Dec 2016

My wife described her meal as "the best Sunday roast I've ever had in a pub" and I'd be hard pressed to think of a better one myself! The food really was exceptional. The service, too; friendly, helpful staff who were attentive without being intrusive. The pub itself is attractive and the atmosphere was lively enough but not so much that you couldn't easily hold a conversation. Highly recommended. visited The Stoke Newington Tea House on 18 Dec 2016

We held our son's naming ceremony in the upstairs function room at the Stokey tea house. It was a lovely occasion, the room is beautiful and the staff we're friendly and helpful. However, there were a couple of disappointing bits: when we came in a couple of weeks before the event to finalise details we learned there had been a change of management and no one had any clue about our booking! Luckily the room was still available but it was a bit painful having to go through all the details again. From the outset we had asked whether we could use the large TV in the room to show a rolling slideshow of photos of our son's first year, and we're told confidently by both the manager and Zaz from the wider company that all we need do was bring a USB stick with the slideshow on. We did this but it wouldn't work and apparently the TV was missing the right connector. We were so disappointed as we had put a lot of effort into the slideshow which featured many of our guests at the ceremony, and we were totally unable to use it. George went to a lot of effort to fix it but with a bit more advanced planning and checking we could have made this aspect of our booking work, and avoid a lot of stress and disappointment! Finally we also ordered jugs of water and soft drinks for the children and drivers amongst our party, but these were never brought to us! In a warm room full of people this wasn't ideal. It was still a lovely day and George and his team were very nice, but I just think they were a bit over-stretched and with a bit of planning ahead it all would have been perfect. visited The Stoke Newington Tea House on 03 Dec 2016

I am gluten intolerant so asked for more veggies instead of a yorkshire pudding, but it came with a yorkshire and took 5-10 minutes to be bought back out. Mum's yorkshire was very burnt too. Otherwise, gorgeous pub, great food, but just prepare for a little delay between food being served. Would definitely go again! Annabel visited The Stoke Newington Tea House on 20 Nov 2016
