22 Great Marlborough Street, Soho, London W1F 7HU

22 Below is a very discreet bar, with a small entrance tucked alongside Cuba Libre at the top of Carnaby Street. As you descend the stairs, the street light disappears and you are submerged into a cute, cosy and dark bar. The whole space is very small, black and red and littered with couches, cube chairs and tables. The music is loungey, funky, loud enough to have a little jig on your chair and still hold a conversation. Strangely there are two plasma screens on the walls with digital aquariums on (not my cup of tea!). The cocktail list is expansive, with mostly the loved and recognised cocktails you'd expect and there are even ones for men (basically containing whisky) and ones for women (containing bubbles)! The drinks were very tasty and the mixologists taste everything before serving, which is a good sign. This cosy cocktail bar isn't going to blow your mind but it's the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the streets above you. It really does feel like you have escaped the madness and this is a lovely place for after-work cocktails or a catch up with friends.
