A pub, restaurant, gin bar and secret rooftop all in one? The Butterfly and the Grasshopper is making waves in Liverpool. Inspired by the poems of William Roscoe, this multi-storey space lies on the corner of Renshaw Street and Oldham Street.

With three sprawling floors, the city centre spot houses a traditional-style pub, a kitchen on the first floor and a hidden roof garden filled with leafy foliage and fire pits above. As if that wasn't enough, there's even a cocktail bar specialising in classic and contemporary tipples. With space for 60 guests, this is looking like a popular destination.

On the menu, you'll find modern European cooking including steaks, brunch plates and vegan and vegetarian dishes. Come the weekend, tuck into roast dinners with all the trimmings. Not stopping there, The Butterfly and the Grasshopper also has a lineup of entertainment, with experiential performers dressed as characters from Roscoe’s 19th-century works.
