What they say:

Marco Pierre White’s restaurant empire continues to grow with the addition of another of his English Chophouse brands. The venue’s been pretty successful elsewhere, with a restaurant in Birmingham and a soon-to-open one in London, with people attracted to the menu’s simplicity and the big name of MPW himself. It’s going to set up shop in the Velvet Hotel in Canal Street, so you can expect a fair bit of style alongside your thick slabs of meat.

What we say:

It isn’t just a name; the English Chophouse will be just that. Expect a menu packed with big slabs of meats and steaks, many of which are grilled. Starters include dishes like duck rillettes with green peppercorn and seared sea scallops with black pudding. For mains, there’s proper English ‘The Governor’s’ fried haddock and triple cooked chips, as well as a mouth-watering pig mixed grill with English mustard sauce. And you can wash all that down with an extensive wine list, accompanied by beers and cocktails.
