First standalone restaurant from Great British Menu chef to open in Cardiff

Chef Tommy Heaney is opening his first independently run restaurant in Pontcanna.

Chef Tommy Heaney, who you may recognise from competing on the Great British Menu 2017, is set to take over the space where the Arbennig once operated. Following the success of his self titled restaurant at The Great House in Laleston, Heaney's new venture will be intimately run; as his partner, Nikki oversees front-of-house operations and the current Arbenning team remain. With no independent funding, Heaney is launching a kickstarter campaign to back this new locale, which will transform the spacious site located on Canton's Romilly Crescent.

While details of the menu are being kept tight-lipped, you can expect a daily changing menu, with a la carte options and an informal tasting menu. The restaurant will be closed for a month of refurbishment, though Heaney is considering serving small samples of what's to come in the evenings that the restaurant is shut; something fans of the Great British Menu will be happy to know. With experience cooking under industry heavyweights including Ollie Dabbous, Richard Corrigan and David Everitte Mattuis, we can expect some top notch nosh from Heaney.

You can find Tommy Heaney's new restaurant at 6-10 Romilly Crescent, Pontcanna, Cardiff CF11 9NR. Opening date to be confirmed.
