Crimbo Limbo in Glasgow
The week between Christmas and New Year can be a real social-life slump. Post-Santa and Christmas dinner, spirits are low, hangovers are bubbling and New Year's Eve seems oh-so-far away. You've lost all track of what day it is, and it's been a few days since you got out of your PJs before lunch. We call this weird week, Crimbo Limbo. Luckily, Glasgow is pulling out all the stops this year, to shake off those turkey shackles and put on some the best parties and nights of the year to cheer us all up. Starting on Boxing Day, these shindigs are set to carry us right through to the biggest party night of the year, so toss that selection box aside, get your glam on, and party.
A little soul to soothe the soul...The Social knows what we all need on a Sunday: R&B, funky house and hair of the dog. The Merchant City bar's famous cocktails are just £4 so they're the perfect tipple to tide you over until New Year's Eve.
It's the last Saturday of 2013 so you know you've got to head to Argyle Street for The Admiral. The Divine night has been running for 21 years, playing the best blends of 60s and 70s soul, latin, funk, psych, garage, freakbeat and ska. DJ Andrew Divine is putting on the best retro dance party of the year.
Fancy giving yourself a belated Christmas present of a £50 tab at the The Lane Bar? Well head down to Ashton Lane this Boxing Day for the bar's weekly Mostly Movies Pub Quiz and your in with a chance of winning just that. Movie buffs at the ready....
