Can't afford a plane ticket to Munich for Oktoberfest? Don't sweat it! Let the beer-swigging, bench-dancing and wurst-eating come to you. Glasgow Oktoberfest will pitch its travelling beer hall in Glasgow Green this October, running for two weekends, from Thursday 17 to Sunday 20, and Thursday 24 to Sunday 27.

While it's only £2.50 (£5 on Saturdays) to gain entrance to the 2500 capacity tent, if you want to reserve your spot on one of the famed beer benches, you'll can splash out on an Oktoberfest package, that comes complete with food and beer vouchers for £34 (£39 on Saturdays).

Steins will be served up by the traditional Heidi-esque beer girls...

Oktoberfest "Schlager" music and contemporary Tyrolean tunes will be provided by fun house bands, Bayern Stuermer and Obenheimer Express Band. Let's just saw these guys won't quit until the entire tent is standing on the tables with their glasses raised.

Who needs Germany when you've got Glasgow? Glasgow Green will play host to our very own Oktoberfest

But, of course, it's all about the beer. Oktoberfest beers are brewed in line with German purity laws with a strength of 5.0% and served in giant steins. And don't worry, the ubiquitous pig-tailed, Alpine beer girls will be doing the drink doling throughout the festivities.

Set to be a barrel (literally) of laughs and something a little different to do in Glasgow this October, be sure to check out Glasgow's take on one of Germany's greatest traditions.

Don't forget to pack your Lederhosen, ya hear?
