Description
There are certain days when only a plate of fish and chips will do. This charming Buchanan Street eatery has turned the traditional on its head, ushering in a new wave of gourmet chippies in Glasgow and standing as sole contender for the best damn fish and chip shop in Glasgow.
Perched on a corner of Buchanan Street, at the end of McCormick Lane, the restaurant occupies a space on the first floor of the iconic McCormick Printers building: the interior is slick, smart and sophisticated, with rows of tables lined up alongside the bold bar area. The Chippy reels in families and friends for a spot of lunch or a bite to eat after a long day of shopping, whilst the outdoor seating areas offer guests the option to take things al fresco if the sun is shining.
Offering an upmarket twist on the traditional fish supper, The Chippy Doon The Lane cooks up classics such as cod and haddock, alongside more contemporary choices, such as coley and lemon sole; all of which have been selected with sustainability in mind. The catch of the day however, is undoubtedly its wine and cocktail offering, serving up a cool selection of classics, long and short drinks, as well as a fair selection of wines and champagnes.
