OUR CLASSIC AMERICAN STYLE DRIVE-IN CINEMA NIGHTS
COME TO BRIGHTON AND THE SOUTH COAST
(The first of their kind in Brighton)

This year see’s the 85th anniversary of the classic American Style Drive-in cinema; the cult classic events were first created in New Jersey USA on the 6th of June 1933. We can assure you are equipment has come a long way since they first began, but the experience is just as great as it was when it all began some 85 years ago.

We’ve teamed up with one of the most iconic venues in Brighton to bring you a run of 6 nights of Drive-in Cinema, showing 10 films across those evenings, all at the fantastic BRIGHTON RACECOURSE.

THE FILM – TOP GUN (film starts 18:45)

Devil-may-care navy pilot Pete Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is sent to Miramar Naval Air Station for advanced training. Here he vies with Tom Kasansky (Val Kilmer) for the coveted "Top Gun" award. When not so occupied, Mitchell carries on a romance with civilian consultant Charlotte Blackwood (Kelly McGillis).

Shaken up by the death of a friend, Mitchell loses the Top Gun honor to Kasansky. Worried that he may have lost his nerve, Mitchell is given a chance to redeem himself during a tense international crisis involving a crippled US vessel and a flock of predatory enemy planes. The story wasn't new in 1986, but Top Gun scored with audiences on the strength of its visuals, especially the vertigo-inducing aerial sequences. The film made more money than any other film in 1986 and even spawned a 1989 takeoff, Hot Shots.

An Academy Award went to the Giogio Moroder-Tom Whitlock song "Take My Breath Away."

They don’t come much better than this for classic American films to see at the Drive-in. Make sure you grab your mates, family or partner for a night of American 80’s nostalgia.

FRIDAYS & SATURDAYS

The weekend of good times and great films starts here, Friday and Saturday nights see’s us bringing double bill movie nights, just like the US drive-in theatres use to and still do.

Our Sunday night screenings will feature just one film and aimed at a older audience, our Sunday screenings are a little bit cheaper as well.

We make things as easy as they can be, because not only do you like it like that, so do we. So with that in mind, so are our Drive-in Screenings, simply get to the venue with ample time to spare before the start of your film, our front of house team will be waiting for you and when ready will direct you into your designated parking spot for the evening.

THE VENUE - BRIGHTON RACECOURSE

For over 250 years, Brighton Racecourse has hosted racing, with The Prince of Wales (George IV) encouraging its popularity in the late 1700’s and allowing the racecourse and city to thrive.

Brighton Racecourse is situated on Whitehawk Hill, around 1 mile away from the coast, and originates back to 1783, when the first official race was held in the area. The site has become more than just a racecourse. Investing in it's facilities has made it one of the leading venues in the south.

Set within 20 acres of beautiful countryside and with stunning views over the city and English Channel, Brighton Racecourse has the huge benefit of a fantastic setting to accompany our exciting events.
