The Office

Description

One of the most renowned drinking destinations in Brighton's infamous North Laine, The Office is a den of gin and Thai food all under one bustling roof of fun-time vibes and hearty crowds.

An intimate yet contemporary bar boasting dining tables, low hanging ceilings and and a main bar to boot, The Office is classic and minimalistic with a crowd of enthusiastic local punters. Take a shimmy out back and you'll find a multi-level garden of heated brollies, outside tables and guests supping on gin wares and hearty Thai grub when the sun shines.

Infamous for its selection of gin, The Office boasts a selection of over 40 bottles with a regular and tasty turnover of Monkey 47, Gin Mare, Bathtub Gin and Hayman's 1850 Reserve. Also infamous for their Thai fare, a mere mention of The Office sparks tales of noodles and rice dishes to Eastern treats at affordable prices. Try their 'Drunken Duck', their squid tempura or their Thai green curries.

The attitude of the staff here is disgusting. Have visited and eaten here a few times, normally hot food from the kitchen or simple bar snacks when the kitchen is closed. One time just after I ordered food I was informed that if I want to sit in here I should buy something. Only after a short time did she tell me the kitchen is a separate business (but the bar is the only place to eat the food), however as I mentioned above I order bar snacks too if the kitchen is closed which surely is not a separate business, plus I sometimes buy drinks there too. Some advise for the management, don't rudely criticize paying customers for not buying things and instead get your facts right. Also the place is poorly heated in winter and I have had food brought to me undercooked.
