What better way to escape the oncoming chill than to head down under?! Walkabout are the best bar in Brum for experiencing the Aussie's awesomeness. Found bang in the middle of Broad Street, this barmy bar can supply you with sports, music and more. Walkabout is great if you are looking for a pocket friendly winter escape, with burger and a beer deals and plenty of tasty drinks on offer. Settle down at the bamboo bar and take in the beach vibes, have a few bevvies and you wouldn't even know you were in Brum.
Tucked away in the city centre you will find you perfect island retreat. Island Bar, as the name suggests, has a hot tropical island vibe to warm the coldest of cockles. The quirky interior will put you right back on your holidays, with rubber rings for lampshades and hula girl murals adorning the walls. Pop upstairs to tickle your Tiki bone and take a pick from their tantalizing selection of South Pacific cocktails. Take a trip round the world with cocktails from New Orleans, Puerto Rico and Polynesia, to name a few, or you could stick to the tropics with a Tiki classic. With an amazing rum collection and weekly DJ sets, its no wonder the sun is always shining in Island Bar.

The Jekyll and Hyde boasts one of the most creative cocktail menus in the city, with whisky warmers, confectionary concoctions and a lovely jubbly gin selection. Pop down the rabbit hole and you will find yourself in Alice's Wonderland, better known as The Jekyll and Hyde Beer garden. With plenty of seating, and lots of lovely heaters, this hibernation hideaway will keep you snug as a bug in a little Brummie rug.
To escape the chilly Birmingham winter what better place to hide than The Prince of Wales in Moseley. Hidden out the bar is their very own tiki beach bar, beach included. With an amazing array of cocktails, from Motiki creations to classic concoctions, just take a sip and you will be transported to your own island paradise. Or order yourself a flaming Zombie, that is sure to keep the frost bite at bay. The huge beer garden has that all important covering for those drizzly days as well as being packed with heaters, plus Bruno the wood burner, will keep you toasty all winter long.
A little Spanish surprise? We don't mind if we do. Take a step inside Bar Estilo and you are transported to sunny Spain, sort of. Bar Estilo has a wonderfully Spanish vibe, with terracotta tiles, low lighting and a canal side seat. Fair enough canals aren't particularly Spanish, but just listen to the gentle lap of waves and you will be whisked away to the bright lights of Barcelona. The cocktail menu is varied, offering everything from Martinis and Margaritas to champagne cocktails. But the best is yet to come, get right back into summer with a jug of Sangria for only £16, and use the change to top up on tapas. Perfecto!
