OFF THE RAILS #17

The best independent comedy night in Birmingham returns for more of the best acts from the Midlands and beyond. This month's headliners are Nordic pop sensation Fjörd AKA hotly-tipped comedy duo Giants. Listed by The Metro as one of their 'Top Three Sketch Shows' of the Fringe and picked by The Guardian as one of their 'Shows We Recommend', Giants are funny, inventive, sometimes dark, and always stupid. We're absolutely buzzing to have this fast rising duo at this November's 'Off the Rails'!
More music from house band English Haircut.

HEADLINER: GIANTS as FJÖRD

It's 2019. Iconic Norwegian Eurodance duo Fjörd are back. In 2015, Fjörd released their chart-topping single, Forever Young Tonight Always. In 2016, they released their follow-up single, Always Young Forever Tonight, to chart-entering acclaim. Now, after a three year "sabbatical", the legendary Scandinavian pop duo are back. A sensational musical character act from highly-rated comedy double act Giants. 'Fresh, original and superbly written and performed' (Guardian). 'Nothing short of genius' (Telegraph). Writer's Guild Award nominees 2018. Musical Comedy Award winners 2017.
Forever Young Tonight Always (Eurovision 2018)

HOSTS: GOOD KIDS

Kieran Ahern and Tom Dowling, aka Good Kids, met in the playground at the age of four. They have been taking the Midlands and wider UK comedy scene by storm for the last year and been nominated and won a bunch of awards. They return to their favourite haunt at The Station, Kings Heath to host the best night in Birmingham. “Within seconds, they had the audience whooping and clapping along with their comedy tunes” (What’sOn Magazine) “A really fab little sketch act” (Joe Lycett)

- Runner Up - EG Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent Award 2018

- Finalists - Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year 2018

- Semi-Finalists - Leicester Square Theatre Sketch Off 2019

OPENER: ALEX HYLTON

One of the brightest young talents on the Midlands comedy circuit, Alex is fresh off the back of his first hour show at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer. An engaging teller of vivid stories - and a Man City fan, but we won't hold that against him. Leicester Comedy Festival Liberty Award winner 2017. 'An undoubted talent' (Chortle.co.uk).

SUPPORT FROM: JACK CHISNALL & JO FRANK

JACK CHISNALL

One half of Fringe-storming sketch act Moon. Jack is one of the funniest young minds in British comedy and it's great to have him back for OTR. “Wonderfully warped.' (The Scotsman), 'Feels like the start of a cult comedy career.' (Chortle)

JO FRANK

Hilarious Jo blew the room away on her last outing at OTR and we just know you're gonna love her this time around as well.

The Station

Hard to miss, The Station is a bar in Kings Heath, and possibly one of the quirkiest. Mounted T-Rex heads? Ostrich themed kitsch wallpaper and vintage chesterfield booths? There's all that and more at The Station where contemporary meets the unorthodox. From it's period Victorian features to its whopping…

Was a very entertaining night. All the billed comedians were pretty good. The only thing that spoiled it was the unbilled female comedian who thought that periods and stalking were good subjects to base her comedy on. We were 3 females on a night out and we were all embarrassed listening to her. Judging by the lack of laughter the majority of the audience agreed.
