Manchester Lindy Hop Classes and Events

Every city’s nightlife scene sees its fair share of trends, fads and gimmicks that last all of 5 minutes before fading into obscurity; not so it seems Manchester’s love of lindy hop and the glamourous entertainment of the 1920s. With events, classes and parties being hosted regularly in Manchester, it seems like this homage to American 20s style has got a strong following.

You want to look the part at these parties, we get it; so to get you up to speed on all the moves, kicks, flicks and spins get yourself down to Manchester Lindy, if you’re looking to learn some vintage Swing dancing then this is most certainly the place to go. With beginners and improvers classes, followed by a bit of social dancing for practice (£4 a class) this could easily become your new Tuesday night hobby. Manchester Lindy also hold regular monthly social dance events at TV21 in the heart of the Northern Quarter and a ‘Tiki Tea Dance’ at The Liars Club just off Deansgate (all events £3 entry).

So you’ve learnt the moves and now you’re looking to show off a little bit. Well Manchester has the perfect little soiree for you to get your teeth into. The Whim Wham Club has been running for almost 5 years, and is one of Manchester’s best alternative events. Now taking place at The Whim Wham Café on Whitworth Street West on Friday and Saturday nights, expect great live music, cabaret and performances from some of the city’s finest acts, as well as the crowd being decked out in all their 20s and 30s throwback finery.
