THE BEATBOX COLLECTIVE

The Beatbox Collective (TBC) is a group of the top beatbox talent in the UK. Formed in Summer 2011, the collective first performed on the main stage for Shambala festival resulting in amazing crowd reactions and feedback. Many festival goers personally told TBC that they were the highlight of the festival.

TBC had humble beginnings in a rehearsal studio when 6 amazing beatboxers came together and started with the question “What do we do now?” The answer was an incredible jam format showcasing individual talents as well as group musicality and this translated perfectly to the stage. With The Beatbox Collective, two shows are never the same and often the line-up of beatboxers is different as all members are solo artists in their own right.

Whether they are performing a showcase battle, passing the beat around, performing full tracks in unison or highlighting individual talents, you can always expect a mind-blowing, original and unique show that truly showcases the best of beatboxing in all of its forms.

ODJBOX

Presenting the curiously named, and hard to pronounce, Odjbox. (It’s with an ‘odge’) A man who has had nothing but music on the brain since birth, this musician, producer and DJ has been causing a not-so-quiet sensation in the murky underworld of music blogging over the last year, and the excitement is spreading into actual real-life-in-the-world.

A jazzer at heart, his uproarious DJ sets have been given a welcome home at Electro Swing nights across London. Odjbox won’t be confined to speakeasies and jazz clubs for long, his hugely popular track ‘The Only One’, which reached number 4 on the Hype Machine (followed a week later by his chart-topper – Birmingham), highlights his ability to produce bass music to stand alongside the heavyweights of dubstep and glitch-hop. Connoisseurs will appreciate the quality of production and musicianship in his work.

As a musician from a young age the elaborate chord progressions, melodies, and structuring of his tracks come as no surprise. Not just a forward thinker musically, you can pay what you like for his last 4 EPs at Odjbox.com, and if you get the chance, experience his invariably joyous music in the flesh!

DJP

Hailing from London... the UK's eyewear jokester, DJP is known to many as one of the key players in the funky breaks scene, as well as a bad ass DJ like no other... Some say he also has big glasses.

When he's not producing party Hip Hop tracks with your heroes as one half of the funky breaks dream-group Second Hand Audio, cutting up new material for his unique DJ sets and for a number of your other favourite funky breaks artists, or producing and releasing endless beats and bass for the likes of Bombstrikes, Breakbeat Paradise, Ghetto Funk etc…you will find him rocking various parties throughout Europe with his own brand of turntable wizardry.

DJP delivers straight to your eardrums with the set up of just two turntables and a mixer, albeit accompanied by some computer magic in the form of Serato Scratch Live ...The final emphasis is always on a great show and an even greater party, you will have never seen anything like it.

He also has big glasses.

B-SIDE

B-Side is probably Ghetto Funk’s best kept secret weapon, one part Superman and two parts Animal from the Muppets. Behind the decks he is a demon, he blazes through funky breaks to hip hop, drum & bass to ghetto funk and absolutely tears the dance floor to pieces. He can read a crowd like no other, even airports want to hire him to replace their body scanners as he can see right into people’s souls.

His production has progressed the old school way, cutting his own unique bootlegs/edits for his live shows, learning and progressing as he went. This in turn has had him release 8 EP’s and 8 official remixes in the last few years which has helped define his own sound and now is cranking out regular Juno top spot releases on the Ghetto Funk label.

What we do know is...if you like the Ghetto Funk sound, look no further, as you are looking at it’s newest (big hair) megastar. Fact!

GHETTO FUNK

Ghetto Funk started life as a blog (www.ghettofunk.co.uk) launched in late 2009 for people who were making and playing mid-tempo party breaks. It was a hub for people to find new music and artists. Then in 2010, they started a label under the same name, to release the music the artists where making and the rest is history.

The Ghetto Funk DJs are so superhero they always wear their pants outside their tights, so you'll always be guaranteed a gang of DJs with the ability to save the world at the drop of a needle. They are all primed with some of the hottest future releases yet to hit the streets and so much exclusive ear candy that your party will be even more super-triple-awesome!

Quote from DJ MAG

"In recent years bass culture has taken over the UK and the Worldwide music industry, spanning mainstream genres and strengthening its grip on emerging, tastemaking culture. Ghetto Funk has been at the forefront of this rise and through its positioning has created a loyal and passionate community of music and culture savvy consumers.”
