Gunpowder

Description

A home-styled Indian kitchen has opened in Spitalfields taking residency over an old curry house.

Aptly named after the spice mix 'gunpowder', this new eatery is a collection of family recipes, Indian heritage and traditional culture. The head chef brings his background of cooking all the way from his hometown and has since worked in London kitchens bringing a home nurtured philosophy to his cheffing skills. Passionate about Indian cuisine, Gunpowder is all about creating a menu of regional dishes with contemporary flare so you can experience the rustic flavours of India in London.

The drinks menu is humble fronting wines from Europe, Australia and New Zealand as well as beers from London breweries. Cocktails come in the form of Gunpowder signatures like their Bow Barrack Gimlet which is a heady mix of ginger, honey, Whiskey and tea.

The 24 cover restaurant has interiors made up of the former curry house features where you'll find unique light fittings constructed from chutney pots, a bar made of old chair backs and raw design touches like exposed brickwork, woods and steel finishes.
