Il Cudega

Description

Opening Date: March 2015

Serving Italian fare with a specific heritage in the Lombardy region, Il Cudega brings some authentic fodder that speaks of the land far more intensely for avoiding a pizza and pasta formula. Named after an Italian phrase meaning 'pork scratchings', this establishment carries with it some glorious humour and warm Italiano ambience.

Nestled under the arches of Westgate Street near London fields, Il Cudega enjoys an atmospheric and sociable setting. The restaurant owners are putting their heads together to crowdfund an outdoor space, to be shared with two other retailers from the area and housing a take-away Il Cudega van. Once this is hopefully up and running, a truly communal hang out for all seasons will be realised.

Catering to the customer desiring a more regional taste of Italy, food is earthy, seasonal and varied. Produce comes by way of connections in Lombardy, and as such is totally integral to the area. Dishes that punters may be lucky enough to sample include risotto with saffron, braseolla and desserts made from egg yolk and Marsalla.
