The Ship Tavern

Description

Established in 1549, The Ship Tavern puts all other British pubs to shame. This is the pub that every pub you've been to in the past few years wants to be - it's got history, it's got class, it's in a great spot and it has a cracking selection of alcohol.  The interior says a lot about the kind of atmosphere you should expect here; worn thick upholstered bar stools, old framed paintings on the walls and rich dark wood tables. There's no messing about in The Ship Tavern; just a proper good pub that doesn't hold any pretenses.

The first floor Oak Room is the perfect setting to enjoy a pub lunch with its candles, roaring fire for chilly winter nights, and antique knick knacks that look like they've been stolen from the set of a Dickens film adaptation. Fresh mussels and oysters sit beside pewter tankards of frothing golden beer. The crispy skin of roast chicken fills the room with an irresistable aroma - its the stuff of movies kids.
