A slice of that Rio life heads to London Fields at this Brazilian pub pop-up

Balls of bacalhau fishcakes are just the start of the rio roster from Rio Boteco this summer.

While the Rio Olympics may be knock, knock, knocking on the door of global sport this summer, there's another dose of Brazil in London that promises a lot (like, a lot) less lunging.

Set to be showcasing the very best in gastronomy that Brazil has to offer this coming June, events company MargoCamilo have joined forces with the The Institute of Light in Hackney to bring about the fired up flavour of Rio De Janeiro to the streets of East London. Described as a corner-shop pub that's tight on the tapas, Rio Boteca will be gorging guests on traditional plates the likes of Moqueca de peixe e camarão (seafood stew) and Vaca Malandra (slow-cooked ribs) alongside a selection of cachaça cocktails courtesy of Yaguara.

"Think about 'botecos' as the Brazilian version of pubs, where you can find traditional delicacies such as the famous bolinhos de bacalhau (salted cod fish fishcakes), cassava chips and pasteis de siri (crispy crab pastry)."

Rio Boteco will be open from 8 June-28 August 2016 at The Institute of Light, London E8 3SB. Opening hours are set to be Wednesday to Sunday from 11am – 11pm.
