Monikers is now closed. Having always been a popular dinner and drinks destination in Hoxton Square, Monikers decided to transform their delightful little venue (designed to look like the gym of an old school building, complete with school bus mezzanine!) into a pop up events space titled Here All Week…
The African Renaissance | Afternoon tea at the Affogbolos
- Monikers
Description
A hub for experience and discussion, the Dining Room will provide a multi-layered and stimulating immersion into the modern Pan-African Way of life, allowing a variety of public to engage emotionally and intellectually with its content.
The kitchen operation is headed by chef Lawrence Gomez, chef at the Ivy, in London and supporterd by the Shoreditch Trust’s Blue Marble Training Programme, providing opportunities for young adults to access careers in food.
Afternoon Tea
Hosted by a modern griot* and powered by Yswara*, it is an invitation to indulge your senses and your mind. The griot will explore the vast and rich tradition of African folktales, and reinterpret it through the lens of this new age.
* A griot is a West African historian and storyteller. He is the guardian of the history, values and tradition of the community, which are kept through folk tales and passed down from generation to generation.
*Yswara is our exclusive gourmet tea partner. Curated by African tastemakers with a global heartbeat, the Pan-African brand is offering a collection of teas and infusions each telling a uniquely African story.
