Mezcaleria Quiquiriqui is a hidden gem bar located beneath a kebab shop on Hackney Road – sounds interesting no? The brainchild of two friends who spent 4 months touring Mexico for inspiration, Quiquiriqui is a haven for the traditional Mexican cocktail mezcal. Coming in three different age categories Joven (young), Reposado (rested) and Añejo (aged), Quiquiriqui’s mezcal comes from small-time producers that literally still use donkeys to make their liquor. With Mexican beers also available, there is a little something for everyone at Quiquiriqui.

The décor inside is vibrant and adds an exotic feel the bar, ‘lovers corner’ is a special area whose walls are adorned with some racy adult material direct from Mexico itself  - a cheeky edge which always gets a laugh from visitors. The space itself is decorated with pallet-crate tables, a chalkboard wall, a refurbished 50s jukebox, and thanks to some glassblowing experience, homemade lights designed to look like balloons.
